Cookbooks & Knitting

Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon
If you have an interest in what you're eating, and how it affects you, then this is the book you must read. Forget the fad diets and the various "refined ingredient free" diets - Nourishing Traditions is the only book on nutrition that is worth reading. You'll be shocked by what the food industries do, and what we consume as food that really shouldn't go anywhere near our mouths. This is the practical guide to eating proper, wholesome food, and will inspire you to cut modern processed foods out of your diet completely. It includes a comprehensive recipes section to put your new found knowledge into practice.

My Petite Kitchen by Eleanor Ozich
This book is a true delight and seems to be one I am always reaching for! My Petite Kitchen covers everything from breakfast, main meals, drinks, desserts and snacks. Written for the cook using non-refined ingredients it's a great addition to any kitchen. It is one of those rare cookbooks that I feel I could happily bake my way from cover to cover.

My Family Table is Eleanor's second book published in October 2015. Equally as delightful, I can't recommend them highly enough!

The River Cottage Australia Cookbook by Paul West
An absolute visual delight as well as being a practical cookbook filled with delicious recipes - this is my new favourite book! Aside from the recipes, it's such an inspiring book that makes me feel that any little step towards growing, producing or baking even a morsel of food is such an achievement. The thing I love about this book is it's broad range of vegetable and salad dishes, and that it has a whole section filled with dairy and seafood, along with meat, bread and sweets. If you love the River Cottage TV series or wholesome, delicious everyday food this book is a must in your library!

The Gourmet Farmer Deli Book by Mathew Evans, Ross O'Meara & Nick Haddow
This book is an absolute delight from it's thick matte pages, gorgeous photographs and delicious recipes. It's filled with recipes for gourmet delights, from cultured butter, fresh cheeses, pickled vegetables and relishes and cured meats. It also has divine recipes for using the artisan ingredients you can create.

Knit Vintage by Madeline Weston & Rita Taylor
I purchased this after merely falling in love with the cover image. This book hasn't disappointed with it's beautiful retro patterns re-written for modern knitters.

Natural Nursery Knits by Erica Knight
This book is simply beautiful! Whether you have children to knit for, or like me only get to occasionally enjoy the pleasure of creating for a baby, this book is well worth checking out. All of the patterns are designed for using natural fibres and even includes a page on natural fibres and dyes.

201 Knitting Motifs, Blocks, Projects & Ideas by Nicki Trench
This is a case of don't judge a book by it's cover. This book is filled with many beautiful blocks that can be incorporated into other projects or just knit as they are and joined together to make a blanket. There are fair isle, intarsia, cabled and many other beautiful blocks along with some pretty projects at the back of the book. Well worth adding to your knitting library.

Knitted Lace of Estonia by Nancy Bush
I've yet to knit anything from this book, but it is an absolute knitter's delight. I love to flick through the pages, and one day I will be making something from this book for sure - I'm thinking I'll start with one of the smaller scarves!

A - Z of Knitting: The Ultimate Guide for the Beginner to Advanced Knitted
I love this book! I much prefer being able to flick quickly through it when I want to know something then try and navigate the numerous techniques and tutorials spread across the internet. An excellent library staple for any knitter.
