The Bookish Knitter's Society | Volume 3 is here!

The Bookish Knitter’s Society is back! For Volume 3 I’ve created a lovely big shawl/wrap and chosen some very enjoyable, intriguing novels.

What is the Society all about?

The Bookish Knitter’s Society indulges my love of reading, knitting and stationery and is something everyone is welcome to join.
I’ve combined the best bits of a book club and yarn club to bring you this fun knit along.

Members of the Society enjoy knitting a new, exclusive pattern whilst we also read a book I’ve selected - just like you would in a book club!

Like all things Say! Little Hen, everyone is welcome in the Society. It’s a fun, laidback and friendly atmosphere. There’s no pressure to finish your project by a certain time - you don’t even have to read the book if it’s not your cup of tea.

Speaking of tea, there’s a hint of that in the Club, too.

Last time everyone had so much fun so I’m very excited to kick off Volume 3 again!

How do I join?

Everyone is welcome and sign-ups open now - you’ll find several options for joining.
We officially begin on the 5th of August and so that we have time to enjoy both books and our knitting, I’m giving the knit along a lovely long timeline. The KAL officially ends on the 30th of October but it’s totally ok if you’re still knitting/reading by then!

The Bookish Knitter’s Society comes in a box for you to enjoy, which includes the yarn and exclusive knitting patterns, some delicious Australian tea and beautiful Australian-made stationery. I also like to include a bonus recipe in the welcome pack!
There is also an option that doesn’t include yarn and even a Digital Only option, to suit as many people as possible.

No matter which option you choose, you’ll need to organise a copy of the book yourself. Just like last time, I find this works best as you may already have a copy, you might borrow it from your library, or you might visit your local bookstore.

If you’re shopping online from Australia or New Zealand, I can highly recommend grabbing a copy from Booktopia.

What are we knitting in Volume 3?

I’m so excited to be sharing this pattern with you! For Volume 3 I have designed a shawl!

Linarii is an engaging but enjoyable knit. Wear her like a scarf, coil and knot her up like a cowl or drape her elegantly across your shoulders. Linarii is a versatile piece that you’ll reach for again and again. The body of the shawl is worked in a snowflake pattern - Linarii’s name inspiration is drawn from the Australian ‘Melaleuca Snowflake’, a shrub that blooms with nectar-filled snow-flake-like flowers.

Linarii is worked from end to end, with each tip scattered randomly with eyelets and squishy ridges, which sweep in opposite directions.

What are we reading in Volume 3?

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the work of Australian author, Kate Morton. Her books are wonderfully intriguing and I find them very hard to put down. For this round I’ve selected two of her books - The Clockmaker's Daughter and The Forgotten Garden - you can pick between them or read both!

If you’re planning on joining the Bookish Knitter’s Society (I do hope so!), I recommend grabbing a copy of the book you’ll be reading (why not read both? I’m going to!) as soon as you can.
I ordered my copies in Australia from BookTopia. You can also ask at your local library or your favourite book shop.

Don’t forget to sign-up by choosing one of the four options, then come and join us in the Facebook group!

Happy knitting,

Sarah
