Gifts You Can (Realistically) Knit in Time for Christmas

Can you believe it's less then 10 weeks to Christmas? I blame the fact that spring is being slow to arrive this year as in Australia we definitely associate hot weather with Christmas time!

There is still time to knit some beautiful gifts for the knit-worthy people on your gift list and here are a few ideas! (And, I might add, ideas that you can realistically get knitted before Christmas. No 2am finishing required!).

1. Socks

Handknitted socks are such a special gift and a pair can be easily knit in two weeks.

Grab two balls of Nettle Sock yarn and knit your favourite pattern, or choose one of our gorgeous Sock Knitting Kits.

The Footsie socks (pictured above) feature a simple stitch pattern, which is great when you’re knitting to a deadline. Or why not grab a hand-dyed Sock Set and knit a plain pair of socks? The yarn will do all of the hard work for you!

2. Marmalade Tea Cosy

Knit this contemporary cosy in your friend's favourite colours, or match it to their kitchen decor. The great thing about this pattern is it can be easily adjusted to suit any sized teapot.

Skill level: Adventurous beginner. If you can knit and purl, you can make this cowl!

Grab the PDF pattern here or choose one of our yummy Complete Kits.

3. Winter Star Cowl

Featuring the same fun stitch as Marmalade tea cosy, this pretty cowl is quick and easy to knit. Made in luxuriously soft pure merino combined with silk + kid mohair, this is a gorgeous gift.

Skill level: Adventurous beginner. If you can knit and purl, you can make this cowl!
Find the PDF pattern here or grab a complete knitting kit to make one in the yarn pictured (choose from 13 gorgeous colour combinations).

4. Seraphina Hat

I love the texture on this gorgeous hat! The pattern includes two options for construction - knit the hat in the round or knit flat and seam, the choice is yours!
Skill level: Advanced beginner

Grab the printed pattern here and add 2-3 balls of No.4 Organic Wool + Nettles DK for a wonderfully snuggly hat.

5. Cosy Home Hot Water Bottle Cover

This hot water bottle uses slipped stitches to create a gentle all-over texture. Knitted in snuggly organic wool and finished with an i-cord tie and rolled rib cuff.

Skill level: Knitted in the round from the bottom up.
Find the PDF pattern here or grab a complete knitting kit to make one in the yarn pictured

6. Maple Infinity Scarf

This cowl/infinity scarf is all about the texture! Featuring a broken moss stitch texture all over, the texture is enhanced by knitting with two strands of 8ply/DK held together.

Skill level: Adventurous beginner. If you can knit and purl, you can make this cowl!
Find the PDF pattern here or grab a complete knitting kit to make one in the yarn pictured.

7. Peckish (the little hen)

Peckish is a happy little hen. Place her on your desk or arrange her in a vignette on your favourite shelf with your house plants and other treasures.
Peckish is simple to knit, with fun stranded colourwork and a cosy round shape.

Skill level: Suitable for first-time colourwork knitters. Peckish is knitted flat and seamed.

Grab the PDF pattern here and add on a Supply Kit to knit your very own original Peckish.

8. Mayberry Beret

This beret makes a lovely gift and is very quick to knit. Featuring a cosy garter stitch cuff followed by rounds of easy lace. If you’ve not knitted lace before, this is a good project to start with!

Grab the PDF pattern here or choose a Complete Knitting Kit, featuring the yarn used in the original design.

I hope you’ve found a great gift in this list! I’ll be back in a few weeks with some last-minute gift knitting ideas.

Until then, check out the full collection of knitting patterns here and kits here.

Happy knitting!
