Four Fabulous Project Ideas

Today I it would be fun to share some of the patterns that have caught my eye recently and that will be going onto my needles in the near future!

1 / Lunae by Natasja Hornby

I love everything about this shawl - the texture, the pattern of the colourwork and those gorgeous tassels.

Mosaic colourwork is super easy to knit - it's a bit of a cheat version of colourwork, really. With a bit of clever stitch slipping you create the most stunning colourwork all while only using 1 colour at a time.

The pattern calls for fingering/4ply and I can just see a delightfully squishy version knit in Bellissimo 4. It would ooze comfort and warmth, an incredibly cosy accessory.

I can also see a luxurious version knit in Kunzea for a fabulously silky shawl.

2 / Eden Wrap by Kajsa Vuorela Fredriksson

I've purchased this pattern and am exciting to be casting on soon. I love the style and can see it being the perfect layering piece with skirts and dresses over late summer and into autumn.

This pattern holds a new technique for me - brioche! I'm very excited to give it a try and think this project will be great to practise it on.

I'm going to be using Organic Cotton + Wool + Nettles DK for this top. The mix of fibres is just what I'm after for a between-seasons addition to my wardrobe. I just need to decide on a colour!

3 / Frondescent Socks by Andrea Lai

Aren't these socks so much fun?! I'm a bit of a plant collector - both inside the house and out! I'm continually expanding my plant collection and currently have several jars of Monstera cuttings sitting on my kitchen bench. Not to mention the ivy and miniature African violet on the window sill, over looking the veggie patch…(I won't list all of the others around the place or we'll be here all day!).

Needless to say, I love these socks. They look like heaps of fun to knit with stranded colourwork to create the motifs.

I'd knit these in Nettle Sock Yarn using Botanical Cream and cream, but you could also get creative with the colours - there are so many to pair together!

4 / Drift Blanket Shawl by Tif Neilan

This one has been on my wish list for a little while. I love the cosy texture and the fact that it's knit in DK/8ply - making for a quick and snuggly knit.

Another project featuring slipped stitches to create texture and colour, you could use a subtle colour combination like the one pictured or create a different look by using more contrasting colours.

For a shimmery shawl with good drape, I'd knit this in Novomerino DK.

Or for a cosy, woollier shawl I'd use No.4 Organic Wool + Nettles.

Both would create a sublime accessory!
