The Beginnings of the Baa-ble Hat
I wasn't going to write about my Baa-ble Hat just yet. I cast it on this morning, and then took some photos of it and wool this afternoon. Then I began knitting. I'd forgotten how quickly chunkier yarns work up and I've already got a few centimetres done, so I thought if I didn't post this photos tonight they will very shortly become irrelevant.
My yarn arrived yesterday from Morris & Sons, and whilst I am delighted with it the colour is far from what was pictured on the website. The shades I chose looked far pinker in the pictures, but as you can see it is well and truly purple. Luckily I happen to like purple and am still super happy with the yarn. It's Cashmerino Aran by Debbie Bliss and it is deliciously soft and squishable.
With it I purchased two sets of KnitPro double pointed needles, as I didn't have the size required for this pattern. I have to admit I did baulk at the price a little, but as soon as the needles arrived I saw why they are pricer than other DPNs. They are truly beautiful to work with. They have the perfect amount of slip that makes working on DPNs as easy as two straight needles. They are also incredibly light weight which I am finding excellent for this kind of knitting as the extra needles in my work aren't dragging on the stitches at all. And to top it off these also have lovely fine tips. Ok, needle nerdiness over now.
I'm so excited to finally be knitting this hat, and if the weather permits I think this is going to be completed rather quickly.
What are you working on right now?
I hope you've had a lovely day!
